There are many voices that tell young people what they lack. Too little experience, too little patience, too little realism. We have often seen something different. We have witnessed how much clarity, energy and seriousness young people bring when they engage with issues that truly matter to them. Aktivismo also grew out of this impression. From the feeling that engagement should not fail simply because someone is at the beginning.
Seeing what is possible
I remember many situations in which young people asked questions with a natural confidence that might otherwise have remained unspoken. Not because they know everything better, but because they dare to look at things in a new way. This openness changes conversations. It shifts perspectives and opens up possibilities that were not visible before. We believe that this is a great strength. Not perfection, but the willingness to engage and to think further.
Between uncertainty and determination
At the same time we see how closely uncertainty and determination can exist side by side. Many young people sense very clearly that something is not right, but they do not yet know how to respond. This phase is not a weakness but part of the process. Madeleina often brings the perspective that creative and moving forms of expression can emerge from exactly this tension. I also see it as the moment when support matters most. Not to provide ready made answers, but to offer orientation.
Engagement does not require permission
One thought that continues to guide us is that engagement does not become legitimate only once someone reaches a certain role. Young people often wait to be taken seriously or to feel fully prepared. Yet engagement begins at the point where someone says that something should be different. We believe it is important to keep this threshold as low as possible. Not by simplifying responsibility, but by making the starting point more accessible.
Learning as part of acting
We do not see activism as something that must be fully mastered before one begins. On the contrary, much of it develops through action. Mistakes, uncertainty and open questions are part of it. We experience this in our own work as well. We are building Aktivismo step by step and learning with every decision. This approach is something we bring into the platform. It should not be a place where everything has to be done perfectly, but a space where beginning is allowed.
Trust rather than judgement
We notice how often young people are judged before they have even had the chance to show what they can do. This is something we consciously want to challenge. For us, trust means assuming that people want to act responsibly when they are given the opportunity. Aktivismo is meant to reflect that trust. Not through grand promises, but through small and practical support.
A quiet belief
Our belief in young people is not a loud claim. It reveals itself more in the decisions we make and in the way we shape Aktivismo. We try to create space for growth, for individual paths and for different forms of engagement. Perhaps this is at the heart of what we want to say. That it is worth trusting young people, not because they are perfect, but because they are willing to grow and to take responsibility.
