When we began to engage more deeply with artificial intelligence, there was both curiosity and caution. We quickly noticed how helpful it can be when it comes to structuring thoughts and finding initial wording. At the same time, we became aware of how easy it is to expect too much from it. For us, Aktivismo is a place where this tension can remain visible. We use AI because it can support us, but we try not to forget where its limits lie.

AI can help with getting started

I clearly remember many moments when an idea was there, but the starting point was missing. You sit in front of a blank document and do not know how to begin. This is exactly where AI can be very helpful. It can offer suggestions, provide structure and shape thoughts into an initial form. That first movement often makes all the difference, because it turns a vague feeling into something tangible. For us, this is one of its greatest strengths. AI can make the first step easier without taking it away.

AI can provide structure, but not conviction

When we work with the Campaign Creator, we often see how well AI can organise content and present it clearly. It can connect ideas and generate suggestions that feel coherent at first glance. Yet something essential remains missing. Conviction does not arise from patterns or data, but from belief, experience and personal reflection. AI cannot replace that conviction. At most, it can reflect it if it already exists.

AI saves time, but not responsibility

A common reason for using AI is the time it can save. And it is true that it can shorten many steps that would otherwise take considerable effort. Texts emerge more quickly and ideas can be developed faster. However, this saved time only shifts the focus. It creates space to engage more deeply with content rather than getting lost in phrasing. At the same time, responsibility remains entirely with the person. Every text, every statement and every decision must be reviewed and carried by the individual. That responsibility cannot be delegated.

AI can support, but not connect

Madeleina often reminds us in our work that activism is more than content and arguments. It is about encounters, trust and the feeling of moving something together. AI can help to find words, but it cannot create genuine connection between people. It cannot replace conversations or build community. This human dimension is what makes engagement come alive. Without it, any campaign remains empty, no matter how well it is written.

AI needs clear boundaries

The more we work with AI, the clearer it becomes how important boundaries are. Not everything that is technically possible should be used. We have consciously chosen to exclude certain kinds of content and to consistently encourage careful review. AI can be helpful, but it can also cause harm if used without reflection. That is why we see it as part of our responsibility not only to create possibilities, but also to provide guidance.

Between possibility and responsibility

For us, AI is neither a solution nor a problem, but a tool. It can help to make ideas tangible and to simplify processes. At the same time, it challenges us to work more consciously and to look more closely. Aktivismo exists within this tension. We want to use these possibilities without letting go of responsibility. This may not be the simplest approach, but it feels honest. And that honesty is what guides us forward.
