Being a founder rarely feels like a clearly defined path to us. It is more a constant weighing of what is possible and what feels right. Aktivismo grew out of a conviction, yet that conviction has to prove itself again and again in small everyday decisions. Between technical choices, questions of content and personal doubts we try to build something that holds, without needing to be loud.

Between idea and implementation

At the beginning there is often a thought that still feels light and open. The moment I begin to translate it into code, something changes. Decisions become more concrete, possibilities become limited and responsibility becomes tangible. I notice then that every function is not only a technical element but also a statement about how we understand engagement. What we enable influences how people act. This closeness between idea and implementation makes development both fulfilling and demanding for me.

Preserving idealism in everyday life

Our starting point is idealistic. We believe that engagement should be more accessible and that technology can help with that. At the same time we encounter many small realities in everyday life that challenge this idealism. Time is limited, resources are not endless and not every idea can be realised immediately. Madeleina repeatedly brings in the perspective that Aktivismo must also feel right, not only function well. This connection between attitude and design helps us keep sight of our original intention, even when everyday demands make it quieter.

Responsibility in every decision

The further we go, the more clearly we understand that responsibility is not an abstract concept. It appears in concrete decisions, often in details that are barely visible from the outside. Which content we allow, which we do not, how transparently we handle our processes, how we protect the data of those who place their trust in us. I have learned that good intentions alone are not enough. It requires clear boundaries and the willingness to uphold them consistently. For us, responsibility also means not hiding uncertainties but taking them seriously.

The role of collaboration

Even though I spend a lot of time developing, Aktivismo is not created alone. In our exchange, thoughts become tangible and decisions become more grounded. Madeleina brings a different kind of clarity, one that grows less from structure and more from feeling and expression. These different perspectives can be challenging at times, yet that is exactly where their strength lies. We learn to listen to one another, to find compromises and to develop shared directions. For us, being founders does not mean deciding everything ourselves, but sharing responsibility.

Between aspiration and reality

There are moments when we ask ourselves whether we are living up to our own standards. We speak about openness, honesty and trust, and at the same time we know we are still at the beginning. Not everything is refined, not everything is clear. I do not experience this tension only as a burden, but also as a form of orientation. It reminds us why we started and that development takes time. Aktivismo does not emerge in a single step, but through many small and sometimes uncertain movements.

A path that reveals itself along the way

For us, being founders means continuing along this path, even when it is not fully visible. We learn to make decisions without having all the answers, and we try to remain true to our values in doing so. Perhaps that is the core of our work. Not the certainty of always being right, but the willingness to stay attentive and take responsibility. Aktivismo grows with every step we take, and we grow with it.
